Mondays with Muir
“Most people are on the world, not in it — have no conscious sympathy or relationship to anything about them — undiffused, separate, and rigidly alone like marbles of polished stone, touching but separate.”
John Muir
Isn't it amazing this was written over a century ago. Before portable technology could provide a window of escape or distraction from the people and places we are in the midst of, we were still often disconnected. "...touching but separate." I guess we can't blame ipods and cell phones for this behavior.
